Shakespeare Day Celebration

at Delhi Public School, Sonepat

To commemorate the anniversary of Bard, Delhi Public School, Sonepat organized an Intra-class English Debate for the students of class XII. The event began with a welcome address given by School Head-girl, Shreya Chauhan. Later, she spoke at length about Shakespeare’s masterpieces, which was followed by initiation of the debate by Ms. Neeru Dhamija, English Faculty Head (Sr.). Saloni Khatri, Kalsang Rabgyal, Mishika Jain and Anirudh put forward their view in favour of the motion, while Shrey Chibber, Akansha Dubey, Piyush Kalra and Nathathep Shrikhandpur spoke against the motion. The interjection round had crisp questions based on burning issues like Honor Killing, Human Genocide, Crime against Women and Superstitious beliefs prevalent in Indian Society. The participants reverted with a strong rebuttal. The Chief Coordinator, Ms. Sudesh Singh, graced the occasion as 'Guest of Honour'. The debate was adjudged by Senior English Faculty, Ms. Gunjan Chopra and Ms. Tanusree Metia. The best Speakers ‘for’ and ‘against’ were Kalsang Rabgyal and Akansha Dubey respectively. The best Interjectors were Tanya Singh (For) and Nagendra Khatri (Against). All the participants and winners were given Certificates of Appreciation. The day reverberated with literary acumen of the students.
